Who you are:

Do you want to make a difference in your community? Do you want to be responsible for transporting people with disabilities, low-income, and/or older adults from their home to medical appointments, work, errands, church, and other reasons? We are looking for a dependable and capable Fixed Route Transit Driver who will drive a bus style shuttle to transport our clients in wheelchairs and other disabled passengers on a scheduled route in Calhan, Colorado, ensuring passenger and vehicle safety and commitment to schedule.

What

you will be doing:
  • Provide safe and punctual transportation and assistance to the public that may include people with disabilities or older adults with courteously and compassion.
  • Communicate daily with dispatch while on the road regarding deviation from schedule or any other concerns.
  • Conduct documented pre- then post-trip inspections daily on vehicle to ensure safety and ready for operation.
  • Maintain daily accurate and up-to-date paperwork associated with driving duties including fuel purchases, accident reports, incidents reports, vehicle condition reports and other records as requested by management.
  • Collect and secure passenger donations daily and deliver to the main office.
  • Communicate with supervisor, other drivers, and office staff regarding deviation from schedule or any other concerns.
  • Mandatory attendance at periodic safety training meetings.
  • Stop frequently, often only a few blocks apart and when a passenger requests a stop.
  • Collect fares and issue change.
  • Answer questions about schedules, routes, and transfer points.
  • Report accidents or other traffic disruptions to a central dispatcher and follow directions when using an alternate route.
  • Assist disabled passengers.
  • Check the bus tires, lights, and oil and do other basic maintenance.
  • Follow state and federal transit regulations.
  • Keep passengers informed of delays.
  • Fully understand how to operate and safely drive chassis.
  • Prepares units for transport with chassis and body modifications as needed to accommodate for transport and drive-away.
  • Works within all safety guidelines to ensure an efficient and safe transfer process.
  • Notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
  • Ensuring vehicles are clean and presentable.
  • Ensuring the lot is organized, clean, and free from trash, litter, and debris.
  • Arranging and parking vehicles in designated lot areas.
  • Guaranteeing dealership license plate frames are affixed to vehicles.
  • Overseeing and maintaining keys.
  • Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions.
  • Always make safety a priority
  • Performs other duties as requested by management.
Hours:

2-Ten hour days Tuesday & Friday 7am - 5pm

Requirements What you need to do to be successful:
