Under the supervision of the Director, Master Of Biomedical Sciences Program, the MBS Peer Tutor will conduct tutoring sessions across the MBS program. Peer tutoring sessions are scheduled through the MBS Program Coordinator and may occur in the medical school building or online via Teams during regularly scheduled hours. Students are selected based on their capacity for knowledge of the subject material, previous tutoring experience, and ability to work well with other students.
EssentialFunctions
- Conduct individual tutoring sessions for MBS courses and MCAT (host class review session, assist with lecture capturing, and exam proctor).
- Facilitate sessions for small groups of students to enhance understanding and promote collaborative learning.
- Create peer tutoring session goals.
- Arrive on time for sessions or notify the tutee if rescheduling is needed.
- Maintain open communication with the Peer Tutor team and check e-mails/Teams messages regularly for important updates.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related area.
- Enrollment as a current CUSM MD student (class of 2030) in good academic standing.
- Previous experience as a tutor.
- CUSM MBS program graduate strongly preferred.
- Knowledgeable in MBS program courses.
- Ability to uphold a high level of professionalism with other students, faculty, and staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate information and concepts efficiently and concisely.
- Ability to balance the needs of multiple students at any one time.
- Approachable demeanor and willing to help when requested.
- Maintain a timesheet of hours worked and with whom. Submit timesheets in the timekeeping system by the close of payroll.
