Engineering & Technical Support
Responsibilities- Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications to support CNC machining.
- Assist in the development and optimization of CNC programs using CAM software.
- Support machinists and programmers during prototyping, first-article inspections, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain and update setup sheets, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers and machinists to improve part manufacturability.
- Conduct time studies and recommend tooling or process changes to increase efficiency.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives on the shop floor.
- Assist in the implementation of lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement projects.
- Perform basic inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools.
- Support quality assurance efforts by assisting in first piece and in-process inspections.
- Ensure parts meet print specifications, tolerances, and customer expectations.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and engineering.
- Provide technical feedback during new product introductions and engineering changes.
- Support effective communication between departments to ensure accurate and timely information flow.
- Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a CNC machining or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
- Working knowledge of CAD/CAM software and CNC programming (e.g., Fusion 360, Mastercam).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma is a plus.
- Experience with CMM inspection tools and software.
- Understanding of robotics or automation in a machining environment.
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience with fixture design or tooling support.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support production.
- Comfortable working in a shop environment and collaborating across departments.
- Capable of performing in a fast-paced and hands-on setting.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the shop floor.
- Occasionally lift and move objects up to 30 lbs.
- Manual dexterity for handling parts, tools, and computer input.
