Buyer Position

Nomad GCS is currently seeking a Level II Buyer. Please note the Level II Expectation in red below.

The Buyer role is responsible for procuring materials, equipment, and services required to support production and business operations while ensuring cost, quality, and delivery objectives are achieved. Across all levels, Buyers work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage purchase orders, resolve supply issues, maintain accurate ERP data, and support uninterrupted production. Progression through the levels reflects increasing responsibility, moving from executing transactional purchasing activities and supplier communications, to independently managing supplier relationships, negotiations, and procurement planning, and ultimately leading strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier performance management, cost reduction efforts, and complex procurement decisions that support organizational objectives.

Level Expectations:

Buyer I

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Assist in identifying and sourcing potential suppliers to support procurement needs.
  • Review and process purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Support price comparisons and obtain vendor quotes under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report discrepancies or low stock situations.
  • Assist in negotiations for cost-effective purchasing solutions with supplier guidance and oversight.
  • Enter and maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier data.
  • Communicate with suppliers to resolve minor issues or discrepancies in orders and deliveries.
  • Prepare and maintain basic reports detailing procurement activities.
  • Follow company procurement policies, procedures, and best practices while learning from senior buyers.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned.

Basic Knowledge Desired:

  • Basic understanding of procurement processes and purchasing procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and take direction from senior buyers.
  • Demonstrate understanding and application of Nomad Core Values.

Qualifications &

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Entry-level position; prior procurement or purchasing experience is a plus but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and efficiency.

Buyer II

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on price, quality, reliability, and alignment with company standards.
  • Prepare purchase orders, review requisitions for accuracy, and ensure all required approvals are obtained.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as necessary to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Review and analyze vendor performance, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations.
  • Resolve issues related to defective, damaged, or incorrect products in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in managing vendor relationships and maintain regular communication to ensure effective partnerships.
  • Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned.
