The Quality Assurance Inspector at Nomad GCS performs inspection and testing of purchased materials, components, subassemblies, and final products in accordance with Nomad policies and procedures. The Quality Assurance Inspector will be trained and report to the Quality Assurance Manager, working in collaboration to ensure standard quality across various Nomad projects and teams.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities- Perform in-process inspections for fabrication, paint/graphics, assembly, and electrical work, ensuring compliance with:
- Engineering design drawings
- Nomad workmanship standards
- Industry standards (including AWS, AC/DC Electrical, and applicable IPC/WHMA)
- Customer-approved designs and additional customer requirements as applicable
- Conduct final inspections (with oversight from the Quality Assurance Manager), including:
- Verification of completed production build records and tests
- Full deployment and stow procedures to ensure functionality
- Inspections for visual aesthetics, ergonomic ideals, and compliance with DOT and Specialty Vehicle Industry standards
- Complete all quality records and associated paperwork with meticulous attention to detail.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with employees at all levels to promote quality expectations and continuous improvement.
- Provide mentorship and feedback to manufacturing staff to support quality improvements.
- Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions related to failures and defects.
- Support quality initiatives by listening to and incorporating improvement suggestions from all levels of the organization.
- Be willing to travel on a limited basis as required by management.
- Take on additional duties as assigned.
- Basic understanding of electrical and IT systems.
- Working knowledge of root cause investigation techniques and corrective actions.
- Familiarity with blueprints, engineering drawings, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and model-based definitions per ASME Y14 standards.
- Understanding of basic metrology and calibration requirements.
- Familiarity with American Welding Society (AWS) procedures and inspections.
- Strong computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and approaches to problem-solving.
- Clear communication skills and a professional demeanor when interacting with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrate understanding and application of Nomad Core Values.
- Regular use of hands and arms to manipulate, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls. Ability to stand and sit for extended periods as required by task assignment.
- Frequent standing, walking, and sitting throughout the day. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Assistance required for anything heavier than 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and distinguish colors, necessary for both office tasks and production work.
- Must have the physical stamina to adapt to varying workload demands and stand or sit for prolonged periods depending on the specific tasks of the day.
- Work is split between a partially environmentally controlled indoor manufacturing area and a professional office setting. Temperatures in the manufacturing area can fluctuate between 60°F and 100°F, typically maintained around 70°F in the office.
