Family Advocate
The Family Advocate serves as a supportive resource for identified families within the district—providing communication, assistance, and outreach without requiring a full-time commitment.
Key Responsibilities- Family Communication & Outreach Initiate and maintain respectful, confidential contact with families the district has identified for additional support (e.g., new students, students experiencing attendance or health concerns). Provide general information to all families—programs, services, events, and community resources.
- Backpack Program Support Assist in managing the school's backpack (or weekend food) program: organizing supplies, scheduling distribution, and following up to ensure families receive needed items.
- Family Support & Referrals Provide information to families about the resources available and where to access these resources.
- Event & Engagement Assistance Support or co-facilitate parent meetings, family nights, or informational sessions.
- Data & Record Keeping Maintain confidential records of family contacts, needs, follow-ups, and any program-related data in direct consultation and collaboration with the District Student and family Advocate Coordinator. Use existing systems minimally to update status.
- Coordination & Collaboration Liaise with classroom teachers, counselors, community agencies, and the district's backpack or family services staff to ensure coordinated efforts—particularly in attendance, health, or crisis matters. Attend monthly planning meetings with the District Student and Family Advocate Coordinator.
- Other Duties (as needed) Perform additional tasks related to family engagement or support, within reasonable scope and hours.

Average 5 hours per week (flexible schedule based on need and availability). - Duration:
Typically matches school term (e.g., school year), with possible reappointment each term.
- Experience working with families, students, or in community settings (preferred).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Comfort handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, word processing).
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with school and community teams.
