Pupil Transportation Coordinator
Responsible for the overall routing and scheduling of all pupil transportation needs. Works with pupils, parents, school administrators, and the public to address and resolve transportation related problems; investigating school vehicle related accidents; while ensuring proper school vehicle driver pre- and post-trip safety inspections.
Also responsible for maintaining and overseeing the school district's grounds, buildings, and equipment to ensure the workspace is safe and functional, conducting repairs and maintenance as needed. This includes meeting with service providers, safety inspections, and coordinating summer projects and updates.

Essential Functions:
- Assumes responsibility for the comprehensive overall planning and scheduling of maintenance, custodial and transportation requirements of the District.
- Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates all maintenance, custodial and transportation personnel, and makes recommendations on the employment, transfer, promotion and release of said personnel.
- Schedules work routines for maintenance and transportation staff.
- Ensures that standards consistent with all applicable laws and regulation are maintained and develops a program of preventive safety.
- Implements a program for new staff orientation on proper operations, safety, and maintenance of equipment for department personnel.
- Determines and establishes detailed specification pertaining to supplies, materials, equipment and contracts for services and preventative maintenance.
- Identifies and develops specifications of various projects in coordination with District administration and independent contractors.
- Maintains a coordinated inventory control program for all areas of the departments.
- Coordinates and approves purchase requirements.
- Approves and forwards invoices to the business office.
- Makes recommendations for the determination of rent-or-buy decisions and optimum timing of replacements for equipment assigned to the department.
- Inspects all school buildings, grounds, and installations on a regular basis to determine that high standards of cleanliness and safety are maintained.
- Coordinates snow removal district-wide.
- Evaluates and prioritizes maintenance and transportation needs.
- Leads the district-wide preventive maintenance program.
- Serve as the District liaison on building, renovation and maintenance projects.
- Maintains records for areas of concern as necessary.
- Coordinates vacation schedules for departmental personnel.
- Assists in preparation and input of the budget for supplies, equipment and transportation to the District business manager.
- Directs the preparation of necessary facilities for athletics and other school activities.
- Schedule appropriate custodial staff for all extracurricular and external facility use.
- Develops and implements a pupil transportation program in accordance with Board policy, state and federal laws.
- Completes and submits transportation reports to the Montana Office of Public Instruction.
- Complies with Board policies, rules, regulations and directives.
- Advises Superintendent on school closure during inclement weather.
- Develops and administers a transportation program to meet all the requirements of the daily instructional program and extracurricular activities.
- Designs, schedules and updates all bus routes for all schools in the District. Attends appropriate committee meetings to include, but not limited to, the District transportation and safety committees and the County Transportation Committee.
- Holds monthly bus driver in-service meetings in accordance with state statutes.
- Assists in the preparation of maintenance/custodial and transportation timecards on a monthly and bi-monthly basis.
- Responds to all auto accidents, assisting law enforcement in the investigation, and assisting in the preparation and submission of the necessary reports required by state authorities.
- Takes an active role in solving discipline problems occurring on the school buses.
- Acts as liaison with parents for complaints and special requests.
- Develops recommendations for future equipment and personnel needs based on an annual survey of resident students, distances and grade level.
- Supervises the stock clerk/courier throughout the school year.
- Manages door access control, camera/security and monitoring systems.
- Acts as designated person for the District asbestos program.
- Coordinates annual inspections including fire extinguishers, boilers, buses, safety, fire alarms, elevators, playgrounds, and back flow devices.
- Schedules and assigns all substitutes for the permanent maintenance/custodial/transportation staff.

- Minimum of a high school diploma.
