Inspector/Packer
Wage: $16.00 per hour
Shift: 1st
Hours: 6:00am-4:30pm (Mon‑Thurs with potential overtime Fri)
Position available in Columbia, IL.
Responsibilities- Inspect finished goods for defects, contamination, proper labeling, and packaging accuracy.
- Ensure all products meet company quality standards and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Package chemical products into appropriate containers following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Label products correctly, including batch numbers, hazard warnings, and shipping information.
- Verify counts, weights, and measurements of packaged products.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas in compliance with safety and housekeeping standards.
- Document inspection results and report any quality issues or discrepancies to supervisors.
- Operate basic equipment such as scales, sealing machines, and labeling systems.
- Follow all safety protocols when handling chemicals, including proper use of PPE (gloves, goggles, respirators, etc.).
- Assist with inventory checks and material handling as needed.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, packaging, or quality inspection (chemical or industrial environment a plus).
- Basic understanding of safety standards in a chemical or industrial setting.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, labels, and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and meet production deadlines.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Lift and move materials up to 35 lbs. as needed.
- Manual dexterity for handling packaging materials and tools.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Experience with quality control processes.
- Familiarity with chemical handling procedures.
- Forklift or pallet jack experience (if applicable).
- Basic computer or data entry skills.
