Budnick Converting, Inc. is a privately held, female‑owned corporation headquartered in Columbia, IL, specializing in the converting of adhesive coated tapes and foams.
Position PurposeAssists the Quality System Specialist in all phases of the Quality Control program including development and implementation.
Quantitative DataMust be able to remain in a stationary sitting position for 75% of the time. Must occasionally move around office, access file cabinets and office machinery. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity equipment such as a calculator, copy machine and printer. Requires frequent communication with customers and other employees, exchanging accurate information in real‑time.
Essential Functions- Assist the Quality department in updating Work Instructions & Shipping Routing Guides
- Request, create and/or file Quality certificates of conformance, corrective action reports and other quality documents.
- Log Quality internal findings.
- File all invoice/traveler copies in a timely manner. Keep filing cabinets in order.
- Assist in maintaining company’s ISO 9001 certification.
- Assist in maintaining the Customer Feedback System, responsible for customer returns, evaluating products, working with department managers on establishing root‑cause analysis and corrective actions, and documenting & analyzing all customer feedback.
- Assist in maintaining the internal audit program; conduct follow‑up on internal audits, report corrective actions, root causes and conduct audits.
- Perform/assist vendor returns and generate related paperwork, including internal non‑conformances, reporting to vendors, and requesting credits.
- Conduct inspections of returned materials to verify compliance with specifications.
- Assist in creating, implementing and managing quality work instruction files and updating them when required by corrective actions or production.
- Identify areas for process improvements throughout the company.
- Maintain/document QMS data and document control.
- Perform duties safely with high safety awareness.
- Assist in the development of long‑term company strategies & help implement the plan(s) developed.
- Alert manager to conditions that create delays or affect quality of production work in a timely manner; assist with adjustments and changes needed to meet deadlines.
- Follow operation standards and all department policies and company directives; assist with other projects and tasks as required by management.
Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Good organizational and problem‑solving skills. Must be competent with all office equipment. Filing skills required. Strong computer skills – intermediate level of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability: Conduct business in a professional, positive and courteous manner. Listen effectively, respond clearly, write legibly and read a variety of written orders/instructions. Work cooperatively with a variety of individuals. Adapt to interruptions, changes, emergencies, repetition and pressure without losing effectiveness and composure.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Coursework related to general business or industry‑specific topics helpful.
Experience: Previous office experience helpful.
Hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (in‑office position).
FLSA Class: Non‑Exempt Hourly.
Reports To: Quality Systems Manager.
Salary: Starting at $18 – $21 per hour, depending on experience.
