Job DescriptionGrace is seeking a Sr Accountant to join our Controller team! This role reports to the Senior Manager, Global Accounting & Reporting and is located in Columbia, MD.
In this role, you will play a key part in supporting both business and corporate accounting activities for a global, diversified organization. You’ll work across a broad range of technical accounting areas while collaborating with colleagues across Finance and within the business. This position offers meaningful exposure to complex accounting matters and financial reporting, and will help drive process improvements in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
This role is ideal for a motivated accounting professional looking to broaden their technical expertise and grow within a global finance organization.
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statement disclosures
- Prepare audit deliverables and work with external audit team to answer any questions
- Perform revenue accounting to include analyzing and reviewing customer contracts
- Perform inventory accounting to include inventory obsolescence and inventory capitalization calculations
- Review different business analytics and balance sheet account reconciliations
- Oversight of corporate debt accounting including researching proper treatment of debt transactions
- Oversight of hedge and foreign currency accounting, including working with Treasury and third-party service providers
- Oversight of lease accounting including working with colleagues around the world to ensure leases are correctly captured
- Research and apply accounting guidance as directed
- Other duties as assigned
- B.S. Degree in Accounting
- 3-4 years’ experience within a public accounting firm or an accounting department within a large multinational corporation
- Strong GAAP skills/knowledge required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with U.S. GAAP financial statements through audit or preparation
- Strong interpersonal skills—ability to communicate to all levels in the organization and across functions
- SAP and related systems (BPC, SAC, etc.)
- Experience with hedge accounting, lease accounting, and/or revenue recognition
- Experience with process improvements
- Familiarity with AI-enabled tools
- WDesk financial reporting platform experience
