Accounting Manager

A growing and dynamic organization in Columbia, Maryland area is seeking an experienced Operational Accounting Manager to join its finance leadership team. This opportunity is ideal for a hands‑on accounting professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys improving processes, supporting operational leadership, and driving accounting excellence across the organization.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in operational accounting, financial reporting, month‑end close management, and process improvement initiatives while partnering cross‑functionally with business leaders.

• Manage day‑to‑day operational accounting activities including general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, and month‑end close
• Oversee and review financial reporting packages to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Lead accounting process improvements and help streamline workflows across the finance function
• Partner with operational and executive leadership to support business initiatives and financial decision‑making
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff while fostering a collaborative team environment
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Coordinate with external auditors and support year‑end audit activities
• Analyze financial data and provide actionable insights to leadership
• Support implementation or optimization of ERP systems and accounting technology tools

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong operational accounting exposure
• Prior leadership or management experience preferred
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
• Experience managing month‑end close processes in a mid‑sized or growing organization
• Advanced Excel skills and ERP system experience required
• CPA or CPA‑track preferred but not required
• Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently in a hybrid work environment

• Base salary up to $125,000 depending on experience
