Accounting Manager

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to support key accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity based in Columbia, Maryland. This role will guide day-to-day financial activities, provide oversight across core accounting functions, and help maintain accurate and timely reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership in close processes, balance sheet review, and project-based financial analysis, with additional value placed on experience related to grant accounting and billing.

Responsibilities:

• Lead daily accounting activities across multiple functional areas, ensuring work is completed accurately and on schedule.
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation to maintain strong financial controls.
• Coordinate month-end close efforts and help drive the timely preparation of financial results.
• Partner with team members to evaluate project financial data and provide meaningful analysis for business decisions.
• Oversee general ledger activity and resolve discrepancies through detailed review and follow-up.
• Support accounting operations connected to research or grant-funded programs, including billing and related financial tracking when applicable.
• Provide guidance to accounting staff and help prioritize workloads across corporate and research-focused responsibilities.
• Assist with operational changes, including process updates or system-related adjustments, as needed.
