A growing and financially stable organization is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join its accounting team. This position will be responsible for financial reporting, account analysis, month-end close activities, and maintaining the financial records for an assigned portfolio of assets.
The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead month-end and year-end close activities for an assigned portfolio.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
- Analyze financial results and investigate significant fluctuations from expectations.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external reporting requirements.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Review transactions for accuracy and proper accounting treatment.
- Support cash management, account analysis, and reporting functions.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with special projects, audits, and other accounting initiatives as needed.
- Collaborate with operations, finance, and cross-functional business partners.
- Serve as a resource for junior accounting staff and assist with training and development.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA designation or active progress toward CPA certification.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statement analysis.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Property accounting, real estate accounting, or multi-entity accounting experience.
- Experience supporting fixed assets, lease accounting, or portfolio-based accounting environments.
- Familiarity with ERP or accounting software platforms.
- Experience participating in budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Public accounting background.
