A growing and financially stable organization is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join its accounting team. This position will be responsible for financial reporting, account analysis, month-end close activities, and maintaining the financial records for an assigned portfolio of assets.

The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead month-end and year-end close activities for an assigned portfolio.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
  • Analyze financial results and investigate significant fluctuations from expectations.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Review transactions for accuracy and proper accounting treatment.
  • Support cash management, account analysis, and reporting functions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist with special projects, audits, and other accounting initiatives as needed.
  • Collaborate with operations, finance, and cross-functional business partners.
  • Serve as a resource for junior accounting staff and assist with training and development.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation or active progress toward CPA certification.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statement analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
  • Property accounting, real estate accounting, or multi-entity accounting experience.
  • Experience supporting fixed assets, lease accounting, or portfolio-based accounting environments.
  • Familiarity with ERP or accounting software platforms.
  • Experience participating in budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Public accounting background.
