Summary
Incumbent provides appropriate specialized developmental care and instruction for children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years in one or more CY programs. This includes the provision of guidance, assistance, and mentoring for the CY Program Assistants. The incumbent works under the direction of the supervisor or other qualified higher graded employee, who provides guidance on scope of assignments and assistance on the more complex, nonroutine problems encountered.

Duties- Provides direct care and instruction to children and youth (6 weeks to 18 years) and guidance, assistance, and mentoring for CY Program Assistants.
- Performs routine day‑to‑day assignments independently with technical assistance from supervisor when required; routine assignments are spot‑checked while more technical assignments are closely reviewed for adherence to policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Mentors assigned CY Program Assistant teams, works with senior employees to provide instruction and training, assists lower‑level employees in completing Standardized Module Training, assists the Training and Curriculum Specialist, models appropriate behaviors, provides suggestions and recommendations to credential practicum candidates, records observations and charts team members’ on‑the‑job skills, and consults frequently for professional development strategies.
- Plans activities for program participants based on observed needs, reviews activities and plans for appropriateness, implements activities and special events in collaboration with T&C Specialist, supervisor, and Assistants, incorporates special instructions from parents, prepares and implements program options for children with special requirements, assists children with special projects, homework, and life skills, recommends adjustments, sets up displays, and arranges snacks or meals as applicable.
- Prepares, arranges, and maintains indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials, inventories equipment, recommends replenishment, secures supplies, equipment and facilities.
- Encourages participant interest and establishes a program setting that promotes positive interactions.
- Interacts with children and youth using approved guidance techniques, supervises them throughout daily schedule, oversees arrival and departure, maintains control and accounts for safety.
- Interacts professionally with employees, parents, and local installation command personnel, participates in conferences, briefs other employees and parents.
- Observes and documents developmental progression, assists Assistants with assessment tasks.
- Ensures area meets DoD certification and national accreditation standards and complies with law, policies, and regulations.
- Collects, maintains, and reports program participation data, performs other related duties as assigned.

- Must pass all background checks for child care positions: fingerprint, Tier 1 with Child Care, SCHR checks.
- Must pass E‑Verify employment verification.

- Must obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance.
- Must complete required training certificates and maintain required certifications or credentials.
- Participation in Direct Deposit/E‑Transfer within first 30 days required.
