MBP is seeking leaders in the design and construction industry to support the delivery of complex projects and programs.

Job Description

For this position, we seek candidates in the Washington/Baltimore DC metropolitan area with ten or more years of combined education and/or experience, as well as demonstrated advanced knowledge and expertise in the installation of complex architectural and building envelope systems. Experience in supporting the successful delivery of new and/or renovated laboratories, data centers, and/or secure facilities with SCIFs is desired. Evidence of progressive career development and demonstrated expertise in quality control, quality assurance, construction management, field engineering, or related fields.

Main

Duties

Duties include providing pre-construction and on-site owner representation for medium— to large-scale construction projects, either as part of a team or working independently, depending on the project's size and complexity. Responsibilities include managing cost, schedule, and/or quality on behalf of the client/owner. Typical duties include:

  • Representing client on-site, providing quality assurance, documentation, cost control, and time management-related services.
  • Working collaboratively with the project delivery team to proactively identify risks and issues and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinating, monitoring, and managing inspection activities.
  • Verifying that construction is performed in accordance with contract plans, specifications, and approved shop drawings.
  • Preparing detailed daily reports documenting work performed.
  • Documenting and tracking issues/non-conformance items until corrected.
  • Coordinating and tracking submittals and requests for information.
  • Participating and assisting in documenting project meetings.
  • Effectively communicating with Owner, Contractor, Designer, and MBP team in a professional manner.
  • Coordinating and overseeing building envelope commissioning agent and other third-party owner contractors.
  • Coordinating and performing final inspection, preparing punchlists, and ensuring all items on the punchlist are completed or corrected by the contractor.
Education/Knowledge

Possess the following:

  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), plus ten years of related experience and/or education.
  • Associate's degree, plus eight years of related experience and/or education.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field, plus five years of related experience.
  • Possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Working knowledge of basic mathematics, including computations based on field measurements.
  • Considerable construction-related training or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates ability to perform the job.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools utilized in the type of construction work for the area of work responsible for overseeing.
Skills and Abilities

Possess the following:

  • Expertise with quality assurance and quality control techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and handle all aspects of a project, including client interface, technical issues, documentation, and reporting.
  • Exercises tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive and complex issues and situations.
  • Ability to identify potential problems and derive recommended solutions from past experiences.
  • Must have computer skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, Email, Internet navigation, web-based tools, and other specialized equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and contract specifications.
  • Ability to communicate quality issues effectively and responsibly (verbally and in writing) with internal and external customers (i.e., contractors, owners, subconsultants, designers, architects, and fellow team members).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications.
  • Ability to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain.
