The Bilingual Interpreter will communicate with and assist Spanish‑speaking park visitors. Work is performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions. Applicants must be available to work weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled.

• Develop and lead nature programs and hikes.
• Provide general customer service and park information to visitors.
• Communicate with visitors while assisting with park operations (e.g., beach patrol, search and rescue, traffic control).
• Develop bilingual program advertisements and assist with public relations.

The candidate must be fluent in Spanish and English (able to speak, read, and write in both). Applicants must indicate fluency on the application and will be required to demonstrate bilingual skills during an interview.

Preference will be given to applicants with customer service experience and/or park operations experience.

Employees may be assigned duties that require operating a motor vehicle, UTV or golf cart. Those duties require a valid Maryland motor vehicle operator’s license and five points or fewer on the driving record. Provisional driver’s licenses are not accepted.

Applicants may undergo a background investigation, including employment reference checks, education verification, driving record checks and a criminal history check including fingerprinting. Continued employment is contingent on results.

Contractual employees who have a contract and work 30+ hours a week (or 130 hours a month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and dependents. The State of Maryland subsidizes 75% of the cost; employees pay 25%. Employees may elect additional coverage but pay full premiums. Leave may be granted at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
