Position Overview

The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) offers part‑time instructor positions for the Early College Admissions Program (ECAP) in the Philosophy Department. ECAP is a public school magnet program that allows students to earn a high school diploma and an associate degree or up to 60 credits toward a bachelor’s degree. Courses are taught in high‑school classrooms and/or at CCBC campuses.

College credits are tuition free.

Compensation

Adjunct Level 1 – $1,085 per credit hour. Adjunct faculty may teach up to 22 credit hours per year, typically no more than 11 credits per semester.

Scheduling and Hours

Instruction is scheduled according to high‑school hours. Faculty must be available during specified weekdays, may rotate within a week, and must be able to manage the schedule. A brief orientation may be required before classes commence.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Philosophy or in a related field with at least 18 graduate credits in Philosophy
  • Experience working with diverse and non‑traditional student populations
  • Experience with classroom technology and learning management systems (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications
  • Two (2) years of high school or college teaching experience
Responsibilities
  • Fulfill department and college responsibilities as directed by the program director and/or course coordinator.
  • Abide by college‑wide policies and procedures regarding classroom conduct.
  • Employ a variety of teaching strategies to meet a diverse student population.
  • Adhere to the scheduled time of class/lab.
  • Develop a course syllabus in line with program and college policies.
  • Ensure that program‑specific evaluation methods are administered and completed consistently and equitably.
  • Assure that evaluation methods are appropriate and effectively assess the established course objectives.
  • Monitor student performance regularly and provide feedback within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Check in at the front office of the designated high school before classes, receive a temporary badge, and report any on‑site issues to the BCPS Coordinator. If absent, notify the CCBC Coordinator, Coordinator for Credit Contracts, and ECAP Program Coordinator as soon as possible.
