The ideal candidate is organized, teachable, spiritually mature, and eager to invest in the lives of students and their families. The Youth Director's Assistant is expected to model Christlike character, uphold PCA doctrinal commitments, and help cultivate a safe, welcoming, gospel-saturated environment for students, while also supporting the Youth Director so they can focus on teaching, vision, and pastoral care for the youth ministry.
Qualifications Spiritual & Personal
1. A growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and commitment to the mission and values of the church.
2. A discerning, kind, and humble heart for youth discipleship and relational ministry.
3. Humble, teachable, dependable, and able to work well on a team.
4. Agreement with the theological framework of the PCA (the Westminster standards)
Key Responsibilities Ministry Support & Student Discipleship
1. Build relationships with students through relational presence at Youth Group, Sunday School, small groups, and occasional school events.
2. Participates and develops retreats, mission trips, conferences, and seasonal events.
3. Maintains a visible, approachable presence that reflects the character of Christ, with warmth, gentleness, friendliness, and encouraging attitudes that are engaged in students' lives.
4. Lead or co lead small groups, Bible studies, or discipleship groups as assigned.
5. Provide support during youth gatherings: setup, check-in, hospitality, games, and cleanup with a cheerful appreciation that this is part of the work for the Kingdom.
Administrative & Organizational Support
1. Manage weekly communication to parents, volunteers, and students (email, text, social media).2. Assist with schedule, calendar, and coordination of youth ministry events with SPEP Staff, volunteers, families, and students.
3. Student Record Keeping:
Track attendance, registrations, medical forms, and permission slips.
4. Staff and Volunteer Record Keeping:
Track background check, training, driving availability, medical forms, and permission slips.
5. Help maintain Youth Ministry compliance with safety and policies regarding volunteer onboarding and maintenance.
6. Support curriculum preparation: printing materials, organizing supplies, and preparing teaching resources.
Event Planning & Execution
1. Support the Youth Director in planning retreats, service projects, outreach events, and camps.
2. Coordinate logistics such as calendar, volunteer availability and communication, transportation, lodging, meals, and registration.
3. Assist in the communication of the event to the parents and students.
4. Assist event setup, teardown, and hospitality.
Volunteer Coordination
1. Assist in communication and encouragement of adult volunteers.
2. Assist in the making of weekly small group guides, discussion questions, and leader resources.
3. Help organize volunteer appreciation and team building moments.
Creative & Media Support
1. Capture photos/videos at events (as appropriate) and maintain organized archives.
2. Help brainstorm games, activities, and creative elements for weekly programming.
Skills & Experience
1. Experience working with students (paid or volunteer) preferred.
2. Strong organizational and communication skills.
3. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
4. Creativity and initiative in problem solving and planning.
5. Basic proficiency with office software, social media, AV media, and digital communication tools.
Work Schedule & Expectations
1. Will be or already is a member of SPEP.
2. Full time (40 hours/week), including evenings and weekends for youth programs and events.
3. Regular participation in Sunday worship and church community life.
4. Required to travel for retreats, conferences, and mission trips.
5. Reports directly to the Youth Director and collaborates with church staff in particular admin staff.
6. Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings for both the Youth Ministry and the whole staff.
7. Willing to submit to a criminal background check, fingerprinting, and driving record required.
