This is a 1-year grant-funded position and will end at the conclusion of the grant period unless funding is renewed.
Who We Are At the Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC), we have a mission to diminish poverty and enable self-sufficiency for all Howard County individuals, families, and children in need. We take action towards this mission by focusing on five critical services: housing assistance, food assistance, energy assistance, weatherization assistance, and early childhood education. CAC impacts our local society by changing lives and helping create a pathway through and out of poverty or just providing a hand up when one is needed.
Who You Are An Assistant Center Manager at CAC, you are a passionate and dedicated leader with a strong background in early childhood education. You possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and you are committed to ensuring the success and well-being of both children and staff. Reporting to the Center Manager at your assigned site, you will support both the daily operations of the center and program development.
Responsibilities:
Program Development:
In collaboration with department leadership, develop fee-based programs for children aged six weeks to five years old to be operated alongside grant funded programming. This includes developing procedures to support enrollment, intake, ongoing monitoring, staff training and implementation.
Compliance Oversight:
Support the Center Manager in ensuring compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, COMAR licensing regulations, and Maryland Early Learning Standards.
Staff Support and Development:
Collaborates with the Education Coordinator and Center Manager to support structured and personalized training to center staff and implementation of the ECE curriculum and assessment screening tools.
Family Engagement:
Support Family Services staff in delivering services to enrolled families by building strong, trust-based relationships through outreach events, daily interactions, and family engagement opportunities fostering a positive and supportive environment for children and families.
Building Management:
Monitor building compliance and coordinate with internal team members to resolve any issues, ensuring a safe and secure environment for children and staff.
Community Relations:
Create positive relationships with the local community and supporting school district, representing CAC in a positive manner.

Required Qualifications High School Diploma Meet MSDE OCC Director requirementsMSDE Credentialing:
Must have MSDE credentialing of at least a level
2.Three or more years of experience in an educational program with six weeks to five-year-old children.
Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle during work hours
Ability to fluently read, write, comprehend, and speak English Strong computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Microsoft Teams, and academic platforms.
Ability to respond rapidly and effectively in emergency situations, including the physical capability to move quickly, transition to and from the floor without delay, and take immediate action to ensure the safety and well being of children in the environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
