We are seeking an experienced Chief Systems Engineer to support a large government program. Strong candidates will have experience with IP-based voice communication systems in critical infrastructure fields, be goal oriented, and customer focused. The work location for this position is our North American headquarters in Columbia, MD or our new production facility in Frederick, MD. The position requires working onsite most days.
Candidates must be US citizens.
- Lead internal and external Technical Exchange Meetings
- Design, integrate, and deploy IP based voice communications systems/subsystems for R&S Air Traffic Control (ATC) projects.
- Lead system architectural design activities, detailed requirement decomposition, and solution oversight as technical lead.
- Support the development of technical contract deliverable documents.
- Develop system designs and documentation of the designs according to customer requirements.
- Translate customer needs into requirements and competitive solutions maximizing R&S content.
- Serve as senior technical representative to customers, R&S product design team, and program leadership.
- Perform demonstrations, training and support trade shows.
- Work closely with the system engineering teams based in Europe and North America for know-how exchange and roadmap development.
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or relevant engineering degree.
- 10+ years of experience designing and deploying systems for critical infrastructure customers with a telecom or networking background.
- Solid understanding and experience in IP based voice communication systems, including knowledge on protocols such as SIP, RTP, SNMP in Air Traffic Control environments.
- Linux OS (CentOS or Oracle) knowledge and networking skills and cybersecurity.
- Proficient in relevant business tools including MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint.
- Excellent understanding of industry’s best practices and standards (i.e. ED-137 protocol).
- Ability to operate with considerable autonomy and minimal supervision.
- Ability to lead small project teams and lead them to success, including teams with sub-contractors.
- Ability to travel throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, up to 30%.
- Strong communication and customer interface skills (verbal and written).
- Proactive, highly organized, analytical and self-managed.
- Comfortable working in an international team and without formal direction.
- US citizen capable of receiving a Public Trust and/or US Government security clearance.

The total compensation for this position is $178K-$238K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
