Job DescriptionThe Senior Manager will oversee the Columbia portion of the CSP organization, managing approximately 30 engineers and engineering managers. Responsibilities include driving design, development, and government certification of complex communications systems, ranging from embedded processor and cryptographic software to DSP solutions for military radios.
Essential Functions- Plan and manage project execution over the full product life cycle to align with scope, budget, and schedule.
- Apply best practices for software design, code development, and release across multiple product lines.
- Provide functional management of engineering managers and developers focused on tactical military radio software.
- Allocate staffing resources in accordance with engineering demands.
- Recruit, mentor, and conduct career development, talent assessments, and performance reviews to sustain engineering skill sets and capacity.
- Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams—product design, development, test, manufacturing, continuous improvement, logistics, and program management—to deliver high-quality radio products.
- Support new business pursuits and proposals with estimates and technical input.
- Maintain an active DoD Secret Security clearance.
- BS degree in Engineering or related field, with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in software engineering or management (10 years with an MS degree).
- Active Secret U.S. DoD Security Clearance or one that has lapsed for less than two years.
- Experience with agile, iterative development (SCRUM).
- Knowledge of CMM/CMMI and defined software development processes.
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Contributed to software architecture development.
- Experience with TDD, OOA/OOD methodologies.
- Experience in GPP, DSP, and CSS software development for communications products.
- Strong interpersonal skills leading geographically dispersed cross-functional teams.
- Clear communication of technical and business matters.
$161,500 – $300,500 for Maryland (final offer varies by experience and location).
