Mechanical Solid Works Designer
Job Location:
Columbia, MD
Hourly Rate:
Up to $44hr depending on experience +
Paid Holidays +
PTO time + a 40-hour bonus check after 1 year.

Job Summary- We currently have an exciting possible Temp-to-Perm opportunity in Columbia, MD for a Mechanical Solid Works Designer with at least 5 years of Mechanical Design experience and a high proficiency in Solid Works 3D modeling and experience working with MIL-STDs and GD&T.
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models from sketches and concepts.
- Create accurate 2D production and assembly drawings.
- Create precise technical drawings and production-ready models.
- Revise existing engineering drawings based on design changes.
- Ensure all designs meet company standards and tolerances.
- Collaborate with engineers to solve design challenges.
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus some higher-level technical schooling in Solid Works and CREO CAD and standard office products software applications.
- High proficiency in Solid Works for 3D modeling and drafting.
- Must have a thorough background including algebra, plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and strength of materials.
- Minimum of five years’ drafting experience including three years’ experience on one or more CAD Systems covering numerous engineering disciplines such as mechanical, electrical/electronic, civic, and aeronautical.
- Must have a good working knowledge of manufacturing processes and the effect of design on cost.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity of adherence to standards of designs, drafting, dimensioning and tolerancing as described in MIL-STD-31000, MIL-STD-12, and ANSI Y14.100 series.
- Proven experience in technical drafting and mechanical design.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and tolerances.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience or proficiency in CoCreate 2D CAD.
- Prior experience working on contract or project-based assignments.
- Experience working with weldments.
- Must be U.S. Citizen - "Must be able to meet ITAR requirements, including US citizenship to be considered for this role."
