We are hiring for a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to join our team on a full‑time, direct basis at our office in Columbia, MD
.
- Assist Engineers with the execution of multiple concurrent geotechnical projects.
- Work with internal clients (Staff Engineers, Geologists, Designers, etc.) while also coordinating efforts with external customers (clients, drilling subcontractors, etc.) to ensure effective workflow.
- Work with field staff as well as coordinate with clients and contractors during field exploration.
- Perform geotechnical field explorations (test borings, test pits, infiltration testing, etc.).
- Assist with/perform geotechnical engineering investigations; this involves preparing reports and developing recommendations.
- Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering‑oriented discipline (preferably a BS in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering).
This position requires a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications- FE / EIT or obtain EIT within a year of hiring.
- Basic Geotechnical Engineering experience.
- Knowledge of soil mechanics, bearing capacity, and settlement.
- Experience overseeing field‑based construction inspection operations.
- Experience observing and documenting construction activities (e.g., concrete placement, deep & shallow foundation construction, earthwork, infiltration testing, basic survey & layout activity, test pits, test borings, etc.).
- Proficiency in standard office software applications, especially Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity with engineering tools (e.g., geotechnical engineering software, CADD); exposure to Open Ground and/or gINT is a plus.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision while displaying a positive attitude.
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to multi‑task, prioritize assignments, and balance workload while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
