Position SummaryMead & Hunt is recruiting a Structural Engineering Supervisor for our offices in Washington, DC;
Maryland; or Virginia.
- Lead structural design for bridges, retaining walls, culverts, sign structures, and structure condition inspections.
- Prepare and review designs, specifications, and cost estimates for highway transportation structures.
- Prepare construction documents, including stamping finalized plans for highway transportation structures.
- Perform load ratings and analysis.
- Supervise, manage, and mentor staff.
- Ensure the structural group and Mead & Hunt policies and procedures are followed.
- Prepare task and contract technical and price proposals.
- Manage project and contract deliverables, budget, and schedules.
- Lead business development opportunities in the Mid‑Atlantic region.
- Provide civil engineering support for projects in other locations as needed.
Some travel will be required.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related accredited field and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- OR Associate degree in civil engineering or a related accredited field and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- OR No degree but at least 7 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
- Twelve (12) years of industry‑related experience.
- PE license in any state, with the ability to obtain in Maryland within 6 months of hire.
- Certification in Safety Inspection of In‑Service Bridges.
- Bridge/structural design experience, including LRFD concrete and steel design.
- Experience with structural design software (LARS, Merlin‑Dash, STAAD, etc.).
- Familiarity with AASHTO and Maryland Standards.
- Experience with Micro Station and AutoCAD.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience leading structural engineering projects.
- Project management skills.
- Mentoring project staff.
- Business development tasks (client relations, proposal development, etc.).

CompensationSalary Range: $135,000 to $200,000 annually. Actual compensation may vary due to experience, skill set, and location.
