Electronics Technician – Digital Tower Systems
This role focuses on building, configuring, and testing advanced telecommunications and networked electronic systems that support an innovative FAA-certified Digital Tower technology. You will work hands-on with hardware assemblies, cameras, sensors, voice communication systems, and computer networks in an engineering and lab environment, ensuring that subassemblies and finished products meet strict quality and performance standards.
Responsibilities
- Build, test, and troubleshoot electronic subassemblies and finished products using layouts, wiring diagrams, and written instructions.
- Configure computer clients, servers, switches, and routers in a network environment to support digital tower systems.
- Perform system and subassembly inspections to verify that all quality requirements and specifications are met.
- Assist personnel performing acceptance tests in collaboration with customer representatives.
- Help diagnose system and unit problems, identify root causes, and suggest and implement production improvements.
- Support engineers in performing and validating test procedures for new and existing systems.
- Build prototype hardware assemblies and implement new design hardware as required by engineering teams.
- Document system configurations and assembly steps to ensure accurate setup and testing of telecommunications equipment.
- Load and configure software applications on client and server computers as part of system deployment and testing.
- Use command prompts and specialized tools to verify system performance, connectivity, and security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and lab teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware, software, and network components.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab environment while handling electronic components and test equipment.
Essential Skills
- Two-year technical degree in electronics, telecommunications, computer technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Knowledge of AC/DC electrical system connections and electronic hardware assembly techniques.
- Experience assembling and testing telecommunications equipment using system configuration documentation.
- Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, and peripherals, including experience loading software applications on client and server computers.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Servers in a networked environment.
- Experience configuring and working with network switches and routers.
- Proficiency using command prompts to perform configuration, diagnostics, and verification tasks.
- Ability to build, test, and troubleshoot electronic subassemblies and finished products using diagrams and written instructions.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing system and unit problems and implementing effective solutions.
- Ability to follow detailed test procedures and support engineers in validating system performance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with system configuration and testing in an engineering or lab environment.
- Familiarity with security concepts and credentials such as Security+.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco switches and Cisco routers.
- Proficiency using tools such as PuTTY for remote access and configuration.
- Experience with Win-PCM or similar software tools used in system configuration and monitoring.
- Understanding of power supply principles and safe handling of electronic components.
- Ability to work effectively with customer representatives during acceptance testing.
- Strong attention to detail when documenting configurations, test results, and assembly processes.
- Comfort working with cameras, sensors, and voice communication systems in a networked environment.
- Interest in supporting cutting-edge aviation technologies such as FAA-certified Digital Tower solutions.
Work Environment
This position operates in an engineering and lab environment focused on advanced telecommunications and digital tower systems. You will work a standard 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, in a setting that combines electronic assembly benches, test stations, and networked computer equipment. The role involves regular use of tools and equipment for electronic hardware assembly, power supplies, Windows servers, network switches and routers, and specialized software such as PuTTY and Win-PCM.

Pay and Benefits
