Mechanical Engineering Intern Summer

Job Description

Under the direction of a degreed engineer, performs a variety of basic to moderately‑difficult engineering projects that require a fundamental knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques. The incumbent at this level typically takes engineering notes, specifications, rough sketches, etc., and formalizes them into working drawings. Assignments are designed to develop a practical knowledge of equipment, facilities, and systems, and their interrelationships within a particular engineering discipline.

This position is part of the Federal Solutions team, which delivers resources to U.S. Government customers in defense, security, intelligence, infrastructure, and environmental fields.

• Assisting engineers with technical tasks, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving.
• Working with cross‑functional teams, including other engineers, designers, and stakeholders, to achieve project goals.
• Preparing technical documentation, reports, and manuals.
• Assisting with project support tasks, including scheduling, tracking progress, and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Conducting research to support engineering projects and staying updated on industry trends and technologies.
• Participating in quality assurance processes, including inspections and audits.
• Performing other responsibilities associated with the position as may be appropriate.

• PC literacy.
• Working knowledge of CAD.
• Working knowledge of other computer software used to complete design assignments.

• Enrolled in an engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university.
• Completed typically 1+ year of studies in a major engineering discipline (e.g., Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.).
• 0+ years of typical experience.
