Design Project Manager
Job Summary:
The Design Project Manager will oversee all phases of a design project, from planning and budgeting to execution and completion, ensuring it stays on schedule, within budget, and meets quality standards, while managing stakeholders and subcontractors
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure projects meet specifications.
- Manage project scope, ensuring it remains within agreed-upon parameters
- Create and manage project budgets, including cost estimates and financial projections.
- Update and monitor project costs weekly and identify potential cost overruns, recommending corrective action as needed.
- Manage billing and cost projections, in coordination with design group leadership and finance department
- Write contracts for subconsultants
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring deadlines are completed on time.
- Monitor project progress against schedule and identify potential delays, taking corrective action as needed.
- Manage resources effectively to optimize project timelines
- Lead and motivate project teams, including subconsultants.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration among team members
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure projects meet standards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards.
- Maintain open and effective communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Address client concerns and questions promptly and professionally.
- Ensure client satisfaction with the final product
- Interpret and explain contracts and technical information to other professionals.
- Manage contract changes and modifications.
- Ensure compliance with all contract terms and conditions
- Identify and assess potential project risks.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Respond to and resolve project issues and problems effectively.
- Develop proposals for design projects and work with construction teams on design-build proposals.
- Travel to project sites both CONUS and OCONUS on occasional basis (up to 10%)
- Other duties as required
Skills/Abilities:
- Degree in Architecture or Engineering, or related field, and minimum 5 years of experience as a Project Manager, or equivalent role, in the architectural and engineering industry.
- Excellent organizational skills
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering
- Must have at least five years job-related experience
- OBO experience is preferred
