Enterprise Operations Federal Government Cost Accountant Professional

Job Overview

IBM Consulting Federal is looking for an experienced accounting professional with expertise in US Federal Government cost accounting to join the Federal Finance Team. This role can be performed in Herndon, VA, Annapolis Junction, MD, Washington DC, Armonk, NY, or Rochester, MN.

The Federal Government Cost Accountant is an internal IBM Consulting Finance role that reports to the Federal Controller. This senior accounting position requires deep knowledge of GAAP and all US Federal Government regulations (FAR, CAS, DFARS). The role will assist the Federal Controller with ensuring that all costs are accumulated in the Deltek Costpoint ledger system per CAS, provide cost impact analysis of potential CAS changes, and ensure revenue recognition is in accordance with GAAP.

The successful candidate will manage tasks in a multi-segment and multi-system environment, reconcile the corporate general ledger, and maintain intercompany accounting. Responsibilities also include audit readiness, active participation in audits, ownership of documentation for all processes, harmonizing and standardizing processes, and supporting other accountants. Process re-engineering experience is required.

Applicants must work independently, proactively obtain data from internal and external sources, and collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, IT, Quote to Cash, Procurement, Pricing, Contracts, Legal, and Corporate. Clear and concise communication skills are required.

• US Citizenship and US location required
• Bachelor in Accounting/Finance or related field
• 5+ years of experience in corporate accounting
• 5+ years in government contracting, compliance, deep knowledge of CAS, FAR, DFARS
• Experience with CAS disclosure statements and cost impacts
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint or other government contracting software

• 7+ years in financial management of government contracts and compliance
• Master’s+ in Accounting/Finance or related field
• Certified Public Accountant
