Controller Position

Impact Automation is looking for a Controller to support our rapid growth and increasingly complex operations. You will be an integral part of Impact's business operations team, with a focus on cash flow forecasting and job costing for multiple customers' projects. The ideal candidate is comfortable being hands-on, competent at financial data analysis, and thrives in the fast-changing world of growth stage companies.

Candidates must have technical skills and will be expected to contribute right away.

Responsibilities include managing sales tax filings in 20 states using Avalara, managing business registrations by state for sales tax, income tax, and remote employees, managing business tax filings for federal and multiple states with external advisors/CPA, managing business tax filings in Canada, and supporting outside accountant with quarterly estimated tax payments & year-end tax preparation.

Reporting duties involve reviewing & maintaining a company-wide monthly reporting package, including overall business cash flow forecasts, analyzing and reporting on A/R and A/P, overheads, including employee hours for billable / non-billable time, project accounting & project close-out reports, and reviewing, identifying, and correcting as necessary any discrepancies during the month-end close to ensure financial reports are accurate and complete.

Leadership & strategy responsibilities include strategic planning for accounting software, banking, tax planning, other accounting tools, creating & implementing policies, procedures, and internal controls that will help support the company's rapid expansion, driving process improvement efforts to streamline financial operations, preparing subcontract financial reporting semi-annually for U.S. government contracts, and identifying, applying-for, and submitting applications for County, State, and Federal programs for tax credits.

Work in the small business includes providing coverage for accounting staff during vacations and busy periods.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and 7+ years of experience in accounting, job costing, and forecasting.

Preferences include CPA preferred, accounting experience at a high growth startup or business unit, advanced experience with Acumatica preferred, experience converting a company from Quick Books to another accounting platform is highly desirable, experience in a construction, contracting, or other job costing environment is useful, and experience negotiating service agreements (forklifts/hotels/rental cars) a plus.

What you need to succeed includes prior experience reviewing and analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports, statements and projections, prior experience job costing and providing job financial reviews, proven experience with account reconciliations, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, income tax, and sales & use tax, ability to function well in a team and autonomous environment, excellent MS Office skills to include intermediate Excel experience, skilled at multi-tasking with strong organization and attention to detail, comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, intellectual curiosity, critical thinking skills, and a proactive approach to solving problems.
