Main Purpose of JobThis position serves as an administrative officer in the operations of the Retirement Processing Unit. The incumbent reports to the Revisions Unit Supervisor. Primary responsibilities include resolving differences listed on the 900 Difference Report, preparing retirement revision transactions to correct retiree accounts, preparing manual benefit calculation worksheets, and preparing and/or reviewing retirement applications as needed.
This position facilitates corrections to retirement accounts due to monetary differences between the annuity savings fund and retirement accumulation fund, adjustments related to salary, service, purchases and/or military credit, and other various required adjustments to retirement accounts.
This position may also be responsible for preparing and/or reviewing retirement applications worksheets for processing as required. In general, this involves reviewing employment and salary histories and resolving any issues to ensure accurate and timely processing of retirement applications.
This position is responsible for maintaining a solid knowledge level relating to retirement law, regulations, policies and procedures that impact the processing of the requests by the section
This is a high production team environment, and this position is subject to production and accuracy goals to be met each week. Timely and accurate processing of transactions related to these processes are essential elements in aiding the Agency in meeting our mission.
POSITION DUTIESJob Duties
Job duties include but are not limited to:
Resolve differences listed on the 900 Difference Listing Report.- Prepare and/or review transactions necessary to correct differences between balances of contributions and interest on the Active Master File (PRIB) before retirement and on the Retirement Master File (PRNA) after retirement. These differences are identified by the automated system and reported on the 900 Difference Listing Report.
- Identified accounts are researched to determine the appropriate action, which includes, but is not limited to revising the PRNA and/or the PRIB and issuing a miscellaneous refund to the retiree. The decision on how to resolve the account is supported by the appropriate calculations, worksheets, transactions and other backup.
- Prepare and/or review retirement application worksheets as required. In general, this involves reviewing employment, salary histories, and resolving issues to ensure accurate and timely processing of retirement applications.
- Review retirement transactions to revise retiree account related to incoming requests or account corrections. This may include option changes, beneficiary changes, pop-ups, sick leave and or military credit, purchases of service and/or corrections of accounts due to new information from employers and/or processing issues.
- Special projects as assigned by the supervisor of the Retirement Processing Unit, Deputy Director or Director.
