Inspection and regulatory work for residential refuse, organics and recycling collection operations. Work includes investigating, responding to and rectifying citizens' complaints concerning recycling and refuse collection; maintaining related records and reports; insuring compliance of collection contractors with contract specifications; enforcing ordinances, regulations and rules relating to recycling, organics and refuse collection and completing recycling and organics cart work orders for repairs, deliveries and exchanges.
STARTINGSALARY HIRING RANGE:
$24.59 - $27.73
$51,139 - $57,673
* This is the anticipated starting salary range for this position. Please note that the final salary will be determined by the Office of Human Resources, commensurate with experience and aligned to ensure internal equity with similarly situated roles.*
CLASS DESCRIPTIONPerforms intermediate technical level licensing, inspections, and regulations support work under general supervision from a technical superior. Work includes performing specialized review services essential to the successful operation of the licenses and permits division; and the contracted residential waste hauler program.
* This is a Classified position, meaning that it is a part of the Howard County Classified Service upon completion of a probationary period of at least six (6) months*
This position requires operation of a County vehicle, which requires a valid driver’s license in good standing, as required by County and state law and regulations.
* Please note that this position falls within a collective bargaining unit and is represented by AFSCME Local 3085, Local 3888, or Local 1810.*
Operations and Field Inspections:- Inspects residential and County facility recycling, refuse, and organics collection operations.
- Inspects transfer and processing facilities receiving, refuse, recyclables, and organics.
