We are seeking an experienced System Engineer to support complex systems-of-systems initiatives with a strong emphasis on qualitative analytical processes, data science, and advanced analytics. This role sits at the intersection of systems engineering, natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning, translating mission, business, and operational requirements into data-driven solutions.
The System Engineer will work collaboratively with government stakeholders, product leads, and development teams to analyze requirements, architect analytic solutions, and guide the integration of data extraction, processing, and visualization capabilities across enterprise systems. This position supports both new development and sustainment efforts for business-focused systems including security, HR, training, and operational analytics platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze user requirements, CONOPS, and high-level architectures to develop system and analytic requirements.
- Apply qualitative analytical methods to assess complex problem spaces and translate findings into actionable system designs.
- Design and support data extraction and processing pipelines for unstructured and semi-structured data (e.g., documents, reports, PDFs).
- Leverage NLP and machine learning techniques to enable information discovery, entity extraction, classification, and pattern analysis.
- Develop and guide analytic solutions using Python and/or R, and ML frameworks such as Tensor Flow or PyTorch.
- Support data visualization and insight generation to inform technical and executive decision-making.
- Produce and review systems engineering documentation including requirements specifications, architecture artifacts, and technical analyses.
- Interface with government customers on systems engineering, analytics, and technical risk considerations.
- Ensure traceability, technical integrity, and alignment with DoDAF and SOA-based architectures.
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- 20+ years of Systems Engineering experience on programs of similar scope and complexity.
- Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated experience with qualitative analysis, data science, NLP, and machine learning in support of complex systems.
- Proficiency with Python/R, data processing tools (e.g., Apache Tika, PDFMiner), and analytic workflows.
- Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear requirements and stakeholder-ready insights.
