AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Quality Assurance Analyst and Tester-Journeyman to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. The salary range of this position is $95,000.00 - $ and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Position Background:
The Analysis, Debrief, and Test (ADT) Branch supports the development, integration, and testing of the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) Technical Baseline (JTB) product suite. The software products comprising the JTB support modeling and simulation (M&S) environments; trainer systems; test and evaluation (T&E); analysis; live, virtual and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and their international partners. All products are government owned, developed, and managed.
The Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) is a high-fidelity simulation environment comprised of numerous interconnected software products. As a Software Component Tester, you will be responsible for the comprehensive testing of individual software products in a standalone configuration, ensuring they are functionally sound and meet baseline performance metrics before they are integrated into the larger JSE Technical Baseline (JTB).
A typical day as a Software Quality Assurance Analyst and Tester-Journeyman may include:
- Tests software for an advanced synthetic training environment
- Integrates software into flight simulators to support pilot training against potential threats
- Supports software development/integration, testing, customer training and demonstrations
- Tests a variety of sensors for post-integration including verification and validation testing
- Documents test results
- Collaborates with JTB Software Developers and Subject Matter Experts during training sessions
- Creates new test procedure documents to validate new requirements
- Communicates with teams to verify correct procedures and software issue diagnosis
- Runs extensive regression tests
- Logs test execution results and reports defects in Jira
Must-haves:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Operations Research, Data Analytics, Engineering or a technical discipline relevant to the functional description OR HS Diploma/Equivalent with 2 years of additional work experience (5 years total)
- Degree obtained from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- 3 years of relevant work experience
- 3 years of experience in component-level testing of individual software modules ensuring software products meet baseline performance metrics for standalone functions and capabilities prior to system integration
- Experience using command-line tools, batch/shell scripts, stubs or mocks to validate behavior and interfaces for pre-integration
- Experience in developing test plans and test cases
- Proficiency working within Linux-based environments
- Knowledge of Dev Ops environment and CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket, Gitlab, Azure Dev Ops, etc.)
- Experience utilizing emulators to support software testing and validation activities
- Proficiency in creating technical documentation using tools (Markdown or similar platforms)
- Experience creating, managing and maintaining defect tracking databases (Jira)
- Experience identifying, documenting and communicating software defects to development teams
- The ability to participate in software design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, acceptability criteria, operational characteristics, product designs and schedules
- AMEWAS willing to obtain and process full clearance-The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance

- Experience operating within an Agile software development environment
- Knowledge of PI Planning, sprints, sprint reviews, managing bugs and task updates
- Experience with gcov or comparable systems
- Experience using the Atlassian Suite of products (Jira, Zephyr, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.)
- Experience supporting Modeling and Simulation efforts
- Experience supporting automated testing
- Experience with the DoD
