Supervisory IT Specialist; INFOSEC

Position Overview

Located in the Computer Technology Branch (CTB), Executive Office (EO), Office of Director (OD), National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). The role serves as an Information Security Specialist responsible for a wide range of complex assignments and projects related to information systems and security matters.

To qualify at the GS-14 level, candidates must meet one of the following requirement categories:

• IT related experience demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience in the private or public sector, and/or completion of specific intensive training that demonstrates the following competencies:
  • Attention to Detail – thorough and conscientious.
  • Customer Service – works with clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
  • Oral Communication – expresses information effectively, makes clear and convincing presentations, listens and responds appropriately.
  • Problem Solving – identifies problems, evaluates alternatives, and makes recommendations.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS‑13 level in the Federal service obtained in the private or public sector, typically gained in the IT field or through performing IT related tasks such as:
  • performing comprehensive and in‑depth risk and vulnerability analyses on organizational systems;
  • developing and implementing plans to remediate vulnerabilities;
  • reviewing proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks;
  • leading a team of employees in the information technology security field.

Experience obtained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities that is material to the position may be considered for credit. All experience material to the position will be evaluated, regardless of whether it was compensated.
