Principal Linux Systems Administrator TS​/SCI w​/Poly

Overview

Amentum is seeking a motivated and experienced Linux Systems Administrator to lead and maintain a modern Dev Ops architecture supporting Integrated Discovery Operations (IDO). The role drives availability, reliability, and performance improvements while maintaining security posture.

• Design, maintain, and support operations and maintenance activities for a large enclave of hardware, software, and network components including servers, virtual machines, managed switches, NAS, VLANs, and VPNs.
• Develop and execute strategies to migrate existing customers to new architecture with minimal impact.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies or equipment that can be added to agency standard solutions.
• Provide user‑level support, interacting with system‑savvy developers and analysts, resolving network, computer, and virtual system issues.
• Maintain enclave documentation (network diagrams, system names, IP addresses, barcodes) and provide monthly activity reports that include system outages.
• Ensure compliance with security protocols, vulnerability remediation, data security, and backup/recovery requirements.

• Network administration experience: installing, configuring, and maintaining network devices; configuring routing protocols; troubleshooting multi‑hop connectivity, throughput, and latency; setting up firewalls.
• Security and compliance: secure infrastructure, vulnerability corrections, data security, compliance, backups, and recovery; maintain SSPs, STE/STN requirements via RMF, Netseer, SEAR logging, patching, IAVMs, McAfee, UAM.
• Deployment and maintenance of nginx and monitoring platforms such as OpenVAS, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Knowledge of SELinux and FIPS; familiarity with Latte Art/Biscotti, Netseer, SEAR logging.
• Minimum educational and experience requirements (see table below).
• Preferred: familiarity with Docker, MongoDB, Elastic Search;
  Ansible and Git Lab;
  Red Hat Satellite; working knowledge of software‑defined networks.

• Doctoral degree + 7 years of relevant experience.
• Master's degree + 9 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree + 11 years of relevant experience.
• Associate’s degree + 13 years of relevant experience.
• 18 semester hours of military coursework/training in a computer‑related field + 10 years of relevant experience.
• High School diploma/GED + 15 years of relevant experience.
