Network Engineer

Job Description

T‑Rex is looking for a fully cleared Network Engineer to work on a program in the Columbia, Maryland area in support of the Intelligence Community.

• Performs maintenance and sustainment of existing networks, troubleshooting and correcting issues.
• Resolve routine network problems; operate network analyzers, WAN test equipment, and network simulators.
• Monitors data or voice system networks for alarms, activates scripts as alarms occur, confirms accuracy, determines severity, and initiates resolution.
• Troubleshoots problems using scripts and standard procedures; escalates as appropriate; researches issues to determine if a predefined procedure can resolve the problem.
• Resolves basic issues, documents results, and communicates occurrence of alarms/issues and actions taken.
• Executes scheduled maintenance routines according to standard procedures, identifies issues, resolves them, and escalates when necessary.
• Activates/deactivates network lines according to established schedules.
• Performs first‑ and second‑level problem determination (first level is help desk).
• Interfaces with users and/or network vendors.
• Follows detailed work instructions.

• Two (2) years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Associate’s degree in engineering technology from an accredited college, or two (2) years of additional network engineering experience to substitute.
• Experience installing and configuring network devices such as firewalls, switches, routers, cabling, Cisco, Brocade, and Juniper.
• Experience supporting WAN technologies such as SONET (OC3, OC48, OC192), DS3, T1, etc.
• Experience with Taclanes/KG‑175 and related technologies.
• Experience with MPLS, BGP, VPNs, etc.
• An IAT level II baseline certification as defined by DoD 8570.01‑M.

• TS/SCI polygraph clearance required.

• CompTIA Network+, CCENT, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent.
