We are seeking a SME‑level Data Engineer to support the ingestion of mission‑critical and mission‑support data sets into a big‑data environment. This role is pivotal in supporting cyber and network‑related missions within military spaces. As a senior member of the team, you will focus on software infrastructure for big‑data‑scaled ingestion—understanding new data sources, implementing testing, and establishing monitoring—while leading the department in achieving strategic goals, ensuring data integrity, and fostering a collaborative, innovative work environment.

• Design and build data ingestion pipelines for mission‑critical data sets.
• Develop, test, and deploy ETL processes using Java, Python, and SQL.
• Administer and troubleshoot Apache NiFi and other data‑flow solutions.
• Configure and maintain infrastructure on Linux, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning for big‑data workflows.
• Lead the data engineering department, setting goals and fostering collaboration.

• At least 14 years of experience in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or Database Engineering (or 18 years of experience with a BS degree).
• Fluency in data extraction, custom translation development, and loading (ETL) with strong Java unit/integration testing, Python, and SQL skills.
• Expertise in Apache NiFi, Kafka, AWS S3/SQS, and other big‑data tools.
• Proficiency with Linux OS (BASH), Maven, Git Lab, and YAML for schema configuration.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker is a plus.
• DoD IAT II or higher certification (e.g., Security+, etc.).
• Familiarity with cyber/network security operations and log formats such as JSON and XML.
• Strong leadership, problem‑decomposition, and Agile collaboration skills.

Hybrid schedule with onsite work performed in Columbia, MD and San Antonio, TX.
