Paralegal

Description

The Paralegal provides comprehensive litigation and employment law support within a corporate legal department. This role is responsible for assisting with litigation matters, coordinating document production, handling records requests, and ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. This position is a 3-month temporary position to cover medical leave but could extend.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Provide litigation support to the Legal Department

+ Coordinate and manage document production in response to litigation matters

+ Conduct legal, factual, and document research

+ Assist in preparing responses to administrative agency matters (e.g., labor, employment, and regulatory agencies)

+ Draft, review, and organize legal documents and correspondence

+ Serve as a liaison between the Legal Department and internal departments to support litigation and compliance efforts

+ Receive, research, and review subpoenas and record requests for patient and personnel records to:

+ Ensure compliance with state and federal privacy laws, including HIPAA

+ Assess and determine appropriate information for release

+ Verify proper authorization for receipt and/or release of documents

+ Provide guidance to internal offices regarding preparation and release of records

+ Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

Required:

+ Paralegal certificate

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams)

+ Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills

+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

+ Strong judgment, discretion, and professionalism

+ Proficiency in English

Preferred:

+ Bachelor's degree

+ Three to five (3-5) years of legal experience, preferably in employment law within a law firm or in-house legal department

+ Experience supporting litigation and regulatory matters

+ Ability to analyze complex issues and develop practical, business-oriented solutions

+ Experience working in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines

+ Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and outside counsel
