SA-TECH is a progressive and well-established DoD contractor specializing in range operations and maintenance, weapons testing, facilities management, aerial/ground/seaborne targets O&M, technical and logistics support, systems integration, electronics and communications maintenance, and growing cybersecurity services. We operate a dozen active test and/or training ranges for the Army, Air Force and Navy, with a 34-year heritage focused on supporting complex DoD programs and delivering high-quality services and customer satisfaction.

SA-TECH currently supports the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWCAD) and the NAWCAD Webster Outlying Field (WOLF) Divisions by providing rapid organic engineering, prototyping, reverse-engineering, environmental testing, antenna repairs and life-cycle extensions, and production capabilities.

We are hiring for several open CNC machinist positions for a growing operation at WOLF in St. Inigoes, MD. Senior- or Master-level machinists are preferred, but we can also consider mid-level (3-5 yr+) artisans. Successful applicants will join a team of Machinists at our St. Inigoes, MD facility, leading and performing all facets of machining, including programming, setup, and operation of CNC mills and lathes, as well as occasional conventional machining operations.

Responsibilities
  • Program and operate 3- and 5-axis CNC mills, CNC lathes, and on occasion conventional mills, lathes, and equipment to manufacture unique products and systems for NAWCAD WOLF projects.
  • Implement geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices to ensure production parts meet drawing specifications.
  • Maintain proficiency in CAD/CAM capabilities (e.g., Gibbs

    CAM) through formal and informal training.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand project requirements and schedules, develop machining options, and translate requirements into functional hardware.
  • Actively train and mentor Junior Machinists and other shop personnel as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Follow and enforce safety standards within the Machine Shop.
  • Plan and conduct work from blueprints, drawings, test plans, and aviation technical publications.
  • Work well as part of a team.
  • Perform standard pre-operational checks on machines and notify the facility PM technician of issues.
  • Fabricate unconventional, one-of-a-kind items or systems in support of experimental project test articles.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on machines and manage tool inventories, procurement of equipment, supplies, tools, and consumables as required.
  • Other tasking as required to support customer requirements.
Work Conditions
  • Work is in an active Machine Shop environment and can be loud.
  • Safety protocols must be followed.
  • Physical requirements:

    45% standing, 20% bending, 15% reaching, 5% sitting, 5% walking, 10% lifting.
  • Must lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.
Requirements

Education/Experience/

Skills:

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Formal trade school, college, or military training is highly desired.
  • Experience in both conventional and CNC machining; knowledge of Gibbs Cam or other CAD/CAM programs.
  • Proficiency in milling, turning, grinding, and plating processes.
  • Knowledge of materials including carbon steel, aluminum, tool steel, stainless steel, composites, and fiberglass.
  • Mathematical skills required for machinists; ability to read a tape measure, micrometer, dial caliper, and other measurement tools.
  • Forklift experience and/or 3D printing experience is a plus.
  • Ability to train fellow employees on machine shop equipment and operations.
  • Current Driver’s License; able to be insured for driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must already have or be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
