facility.
JOB SUMMARY
The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for working in a safe, efficient manner to maximize hands-on production and shipping of wood shavings.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- SAFETY
- Attend monthly safety meetings
- Wear PPE as required
- Attend trainings as needed and complete required testing with sufficient results
- PRODUCTION
- Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner producing packaged materials for AWF customers
- Confers with shift supervisor and follows through with assigned work duties
- Assist with cleaning up work area
- Place an empty bag on the fill tube, seal, place in master pack, and hand palletize (up to 40 lbs.)
- OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
- Perform outside duties to include sweeping, picking up debris, watering flowers and shrubbery, shoveling snow, and deicing walkways as required
- QUALITY
- Maintain and verify that all current quality assurance measures are being followed and communicated
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Physical capability to bend, squat, or stoop
- Previous mobile equipment and/or forklift preferred
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. regularly
- Ability to respond quickly to sounds
- Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
- Ability to work in extreme weather
- Be able to climb stairs and/or ladder to the stacking station areas
- Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly
- Candidate MUST be able to work in a smoke-free environment
