SCU RN - Will train the right candidate who has at least 1 year of current M/S, Tele, Stepdown or PCU hospital nursing experience. Howard County General Hospital is now “Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center” and cares for a range of patients with severe health conditions. Our hospital’s highly specialized Intensive Care Unit (ICU) dedicated to adult patients requiring intensive monitoring and care, including after surgery or due to medical conditions, including cardiac care, works closely with the Special Care Unit (SCU).
As a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), you will care for critically ill patients with complex medical and surgical problems. Darlene Norton serves as the Nurse Manager, with a demonstrated track record of effective leadership. She oversees three vital units: the Intensive Care Unit, the Special Care Unit (IMCU) and Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Cath Nursing.

ResponsibilitiesAs a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), provide care for critically ill patients with complex medical and surgical problems in a high-acuity environment. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans, monitor patient status, administer medications and interventions per policy, and ensure patient safety and comfort. Support the effective operation of the ICU and SCU units under the leadership of the Nurse Manager.
Qualifications- BSN Preferred.
- RNs without a BSN must enroll in a BSN program within 6 months and complete the degree within 5 years of their start date.
- Previous specialty clinical experience preferred for specialty units.
- Current Maryland RN license or licensure in a compact state that allows practice in Maryland.
- CPR/BLS certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted.

- Nurses hired with an Associate’s degree in nursing must enroll in an accredited BSN/MSN program within 1 year of hire and complete the degree within 5 years of your start date.

Salary Range:
Minimum 37.13/hour - Maximum 57.87/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
