The Nurse Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in the clinical and home setting. This position is responsible for managing acute and specialty infusion services, coordinating clinical nursing activities, and implementing effective nursing management strategies. The Nurse Manager advocates for patient safety and well-being, leading and growing the nursing team, and working cross-departmental to ensure smooth communication for all parties.

By leading and mentoring nursing teams, the Nurse Manager fosters a collaborative environment that promotes continuous improvement and adherence to clinical best practices. Ultimately, this role ensures that all nursing operations align with organizational goals and regulatory standards to optimize patient outcomes.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, coaches, and supervises nursing and ancillary staff within the assigned market.
  • Conducts regular performance discussions, establishes individual and departmental goals, and completes annual performance evaluations.
  • Maintains staff competency programs, annual competency validations, and required supervisory visits.
  • Develops staff engagement, promotes teamwork, and fosters a professional, inclusive, and culturally sensitive work environment.
  • Ensures appropriate nursing coverage, including management of after-hours and on-call nursing services.
  • Oversees and supports the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered infusion nursing services in patient homes and infusion suites within assigned territories.
  • Ensures the assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of patient care in accordance with the nursing process and physician orders.
  • Reviews and monitors patient care plans and plans of treatment for appropriateness and directs modifications as clinically indicated.
  • Coordinates care among patients, caregivers, physicians, home health agencies, the pharmacy, and other healthcare providers.
  • Maintains clinical competency and provides direct patient care and as needed to ensure continuity of services.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, accreditation, regulatory, and company directives within nursing operations to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, clinical standards, and quality initiatives.
  • Maintains oversight of clinical documentation, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Protects the confidentiality, privacy, and security of patient, employee, and organizational information, including compliance with HIPAA and applicable privacy regulations.
  • Participates in quality improvement and organizational committees as assigned.
  • Promotes efficient utilization of staffing resources, nursing services, and clinical supplies.
  • Supports cost-effective delivery of nursing services and monitors medical supply utilization.
  • Collaborates with nursing leadership to optimize scheduling, patient assignments, visit utilization, and geographic staffing coverage.
  • Maintains proficiency with electronic medical record systems and related clinical technology.
  • Serves as a primary clinical resource and point of contact for home health agencies, physician offices, referral sources, patients, and internal team members.
  • Facilitates transitions of care, including coordination of patient transfers to alternative providers when services cannot be accommodated.
  • Ensures timely communication of significant clinical findings and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to promote positive patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrates excellence in customer service and cultivates strong relationships with patients, caregivers, referral sources, and healthcare partners.
  • Partners with sales, intake, pharmacy, and operational teams to support growth initiatives and expansion of infusion services.
  • Participates in customer meetings, educational presentations, and clinical consultations with referral sources.
  • Collaborates with leadership to identify opportunities to increase utilization of company nursing services, ambulatory infusion services, and other strategic programs.
  • Travels throughout the assigned territory as necessary to support patient care, staff supervision, and operational needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program recognized by the applicable State Board of Nursing.
