Virology Scientist

Position Objective: The Virology Support Scientist will provide services in support of the overall functions of the Office of Chief Scientist - Integrated Research Facility (OCSIRF) within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The PI-2 Core has the principal focus of developing and executing an independent research program focused on understanding aspects of infection, pathogen replication or pathogenesis to support the mission of the IRF-Frederick and NIAID.

• Provide research services to support virology research, such as performing research that takes advantage of IRF-Frederick resources and to provide technical expertise for the completion of cutting-edge research.
• Perform research with the guidance and direction of Federal Task Leader and Senior research staff.
• Provide expertise on basic virology, molecular virology, immunology, organ-chip/organoid technologies, drug screening assays, microscopy, protein chemistry or related fields.
• Responsible for laboratory inventory management, submitting purchase requests, managing laboratory resources and maintaining appropriate laboratory research documentation (notebooks).
• Execute virology research as directed
• Maintain proper research documentation and data management
• Maintain laboratory reagent and material inventories
• Manage general laboratory operations
• Submit purchase requests
• Assist with manuscript and report writing as requested
