The Position - Research Associate, siRNA

We are seeking a talented, highly motivated, and collaborative Research Associate to join our team and work as part of the larger research team aimed at discovering and developing novel therapeutic agents. The specific team will be focusing on the discovery and characterization of novel siRNA and mRNA drug candidates. Candidates should have extensive laboratory experience with development and implementation of in vitro cellular, molecular and immunological assays.

The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to screening and optimizing siRNA therapeutics with different types of novel ligands, chemical modifications and formulations. This role offers tremendous growth opportunity within a dynamic and science-driven organization. This position reports to Senior Scientist.

Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams to support screening of RNA-based therapeutic candidates by in vitro assays.
  • Plan, develop, and perform cell-based assays to screen and evaluate RNA-based candidates, including daily cell culture maintenance, transfection, free uptake, internalization assay, reporter assays, and cell viability assays.
  • Perform in vitro cell-based functional assays as well as cell-based binding assays using standard assay techniques such as alphaLISA/ELISA, Luminex, microscopy, and flow cytometry.
  • Culture and engineer cell lines and prepare reagents and test agents as specified in approved protocols.
  • Design, setup and perform PCR and RT-PCR assays. Execute day-to-day assay tasks, including RT-qPCR, ELISA, Western blots, gel electrophoresis, multi-color flow cytometry, molecular cloning, etc.
  • Isolation and preparation of RNA from cell and tissue samples.
  • Cloning and plasmid DNA preparation experience.
  • Sample preparation for RNA sequencing, including RNA isolation, and sample QC.
  • Exercise basic technical discretion to troubleshoot experiments.
  • Review data, prepare reports, and communicate experimental results to manager and in team meetings.
  • Clearly document experimental details and results in ELN.
  • Maintain a current appreciation of scientific literature and understanding of the state of the art in oligonucleotide therapeutics.
Qualifications
  • Candidates in Biological Sciences, Bioengineering, and Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related scientific discipline. B.S. with at least 5-year of experience or M.S. with at least 2-year of experience in industry or academic setting.
  • Strong background in cell biology and molecular biology, especially extensive knowledge and understanding in RNA biology.
  • Proficient in techniques including mammalian cell culture, transfection, free uptake, flow cytometry, ELISA, reporter assays, gel electrophoresis, Western blot, PCR/RT-qPCR assays, plasmid DNA isolation and purification, and in vitro translation of mRNA.
