Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Engineer II at UL Research Institutes , based in our Columbia, Maryland office.
The Research Engineer II conducts experiments, gathers data, develops preliminary findings, and prepares written reports/manuscripts. The Research Engineer II works closely with other researchers to ensure all processes are accurate and technically sound.

As the Research Engineer II, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:
- Identifies fundamental knowledge needed to enhance UL's thought leadership and support the strategy of Fire Safety.
- Document experimental procedures, prepare detailed papers and reports, and evaluate technical specifications and factors related to experimental objectives.
- Identify and recommend hardware and equipment needed for operations, and experimental use.
- Stays ahead of changing technologies in the field by reading journals and scientific publications and attending academic conferences.
- Gathers data for projects and works collaboratively with Research Engineers and Scientists to conduct research.
- Leads and assists with publications.
- Operate independently and safety in the lab/field.
- Can lead and assist with data collection and data analysis.
- Performs other duties as directed.
