Position: Plumber (Skilled Trade Specialist III)

Position

Skilled Trade Specialist III – Plumber

Location

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall Airport), Anne Arundel County, MD.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect and approve the work of outside plumbing contractors and in‑house non‑licensed plumbing staff.
  • Carry out the full range of plumbing installation and repair work as a licensed journeyman plumber.
  • Perform the same work as the crew as required.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high‑school equivalency certificate.
  • Four years of experience working as a plumber.
  • Possession of a Journey‑level or higher plumbing license issued by the Maryland State Board of Plumbing.
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in the State of Maryland (Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License may be required during probationary period).
  • Must obtain and maintain an Airfield Operators Permit in accordance with Maryland regulation .
  • Must satisfy agency training and certification program requirements to obtain and maintain permanent status.
  • Applicants who held more than one position at the same employer must list each position and length of time.
  • Equivalent experience and education may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.
Special Requirements
  • Extensive pre‑employment security background check required by the Federal Aviation Administration.
  • Must be willing to work as required for continuous operation of the facility, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must maintain reliable communication link for emergency call‑back requirements.
  • May be required to undergo periodic medical testing and hazardous‑materials training for exposure to asbestos, lead‑based paint, or chromium.
  • Must be able to perform maintenance on high structures and in cramped quarters.
  • Employees are considered “Essential Employees” and must agree to all policies governing that status.
  • Subject to pre‑employment drug testing and substance‑abuse testing.
