The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) is dedicated to transforming young lives, creating safer communities, and fostering equitable systems. We are seeking passionate individuals for the role of the Case Management Specialist Supervisor

The main purpose of this position is to plan, direct, and coordinate the delivery of community case management services for juveniles within an assigned county or geographic region. The incumbent provides leadership and guidance to Case Management Specialists, ensuring effective case management practices, coordination of services, and compliance with departmental policies and procedures. This position also serves as a key liaison with court personnel, legal representatives, law enforcement, agency partners, youth, and families to address case-related matters, communicate expectations, resolve concerns, and support successful case outcomes.

Some key responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following :

  • Planning, directing, and coordinating the delivery of community case management services for juveniles within an assigned county or geographic region
  • Supervising, assigning, and evaluating the work of Case Management Specialists to ensure effective case management operations
  • Collaborating with representatives from the State’s Attorney’s and Public Defender’s Offices, courts, legal representatives, law enforcement, public and private agencies, and families to obtain and clarify information, explain procedures and expectations, coordinate services, and resolve concerns
  • Reviewing case reports, recommendations, and related documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with departmental standards
  • Providing guidance and direction to staff regarding case management practices, court-related matters, treatment services, and resolution of case concerns
  • Coordinating court-related activities, including the preparation and presentation of case materials, staff recommendations, and placement considerations
  • Communicating court decisions, directives, and other case-related information to appropriate DJS staff and external stakeholders
  • Addressing operational issues, complaints, and service delivery concerns while promoting effective problem resolution
  • Participating in staff meetings, conferences, training activities, and professional development opportunities related to juvenile justice services and case management practices
  • Maintaining knowledge of current developments, policies, and practices related to juvenile delinquency services and community-based case management programs

This position may require a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and may operate under hybrid telework protocols to meet the needs of youth, families, and partner agencies.

Minimum Qualifications

Education : A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience :
Three (3) years of experience providing case management services to emotionally or socially maladjusted, delinquent, victimized or exceptional juveniles in a community or residential setting.

Notes

  • Candidates may substitute possession of an Associate of Arts degree in the social or behavioral sciences or criminal justice from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience providing direct services to children in a community or residential setting for the required education.
  • Candidates may substitute possession of a Master’s degree in the social or behavioral sciences or criminal justice from an accredited college or university for one (1) year of the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Social Services classifications or Social Services specialty codes in the Social Science, Psychology and Welfare field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required…
