Senior Generative AI Engineer

HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a Senior Generative AI Engineer to join a remote team with occasional travel to Annapolis Junction, MD. The role focuses on building and managing end‑to‑end generative AI solutions for internal use and external clients in areas such as intelligence analysis and manufacturing optimization.

Base Pay Range
: $ – $ per year. Eligibility for Secret clearance. Travel 0–10%.

• Operational AI Implementation: research, develop, and deploy machine learning, deep learning, and large language model techniques.
• Full Stack Design and Development: prototype applications, transition them to production with scalable, well‑architected stacks.
• Client Engagement: support internal and external client meetings as subject‑matter expert in AI and advanced software, focusing on cloud and generative AI.
• Project Delivery: manage and deliver multiple concurrent projects across varied environments.
• Collaboration:
  
  work across teams of varying technical skill levels.
• Communication: articulate complex strategies and technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders and leaders.
• Decision‑Making: drive technical decisions through documentation, architecture reviews, and cross‑functional collaboration.

• Education and experience:
  
  9 years relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, 7 years with a master’s, 4 years with a PhD/JD, or high school diploma plus 13 years relevant experience.
• Programming:
  Python.
• Containerized development:
  Docker, Rancher, and/or Kubernetes.
• Cloud:
  Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Databases: SQL, No
  
  SQL, and/or vector databases.
• CI/CD pipeline management.
• Dev Sec Ops  design and deployment principles.
• Git workflows, code review discipline, documentation skills.
• Hands‑on experience with open‑source LLMs and ecosystem tools (model serving, fine‑tuning, prompt engineering, embeddings).
• Development of generative AI products or platforms, including multimodal use cases.
• Travel to customer locations occasionally with notice.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

• Bachelor’s in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
• UI/UX development:
  JavaScript (Angular, React).
• Backend development: REST API, web apps, microservices.
• Experience supporting feature development and maintenance for an enterprise‑scale application.
• Building multi‑step agentic workflows and orchestrators using Lang Chain, Lang Graph, Llama Index, Prompt Graph, or custom pipelines.
