Principal Speech Recognition Researcher; Onsite

RTX BBN Technologies, a premier research and development center of RTX, is seeking a Principal Researcher in its Analytics and Machine Intelligence business unit to perform technical work for a government customer. The position is an onsite customer role in Columbia, MD.

• Research, develop, and implement novel algorithms for solving customer challenges related to Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR).
• Develop software systems to train and test ASR systems.
• Build new ASR models for customer data and domain.
• Interface with DoD clients supporting ASR research systems.

• Active, transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance (Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph) required prior to start.
• Typical requirement:
  University degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 5 years of experience.
• Experience with Python programming.
• Experience with Linux command line.
• Experience with machine learning.
• Empirical research experience.

• Bash programming.
• An inquisitive personality.
• Hands‑on experience with speech recognition technologies.
• Experience with ESPnet.
• Experience with PyTorch.
• Knowledge of software development in Python.
