Platform Engineer Security Clearance

We are looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer with experience in Cloud technology (AWS), programming skills in Go, and a strong Linux foundation. The role will significantly contribute to the development of custom software components and integration of open-source code to address complex problems through the use of cutting‑edge Big Data/Cloud technology. The candidate will work autonomously, identifying and solving problems quickly while advancing broader strategic goals set by team architects.

Work is performed in a hybrid environment with a great team.

• Strong systems integrator with an eye for opportunities to enhance, optimize, or increase robustness of an existing code base.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and ability to leverage modern tools to define, build, and manage virtual infrastructure in the cloud.
• Design and implement core architecture and capabilities for software from prototype to operational applications.
• Other duties as assigned.

• U.S. citizenship required; a current U.S. Government Security clearance is not required at start but will be processed for a Secret level clearance.
• 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering or Software Development (Go) with a Bachelor’s in a related field; OR 3 years relevant experience with a Master’s in a related field; OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• Must have experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience with Kubernetes (or vendor flavor), Ansible, storage layers (Ceph, Rook, Longhorn, etc.).
• Experience with Go programming.
• Solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, applications and proficiency in shell scripting (Shell/Bash).
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to identify and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending 1–2 days per week at our Columbia, MD office.

• Prior experience or familiarity with DISA’s Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems (e.g., Cloudera’s Distribution of Hadoop, Hortonworks Data Platform, MapR).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Gitlab‑CI, Travis‑CI, Jenkins, etc.).
• Understanding of agile software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites (JIRA, Confluence, Git Hub, Git Lab, etc.).
• Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Maven, virtualization (oVirt, Proxmox, VMware, etc.).
• DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications may be required.
